5 Key Points Of the Canopy-IO

Lee en español

We’re really proud of the design of the Canopy-IO. We developed it relying on several years of Overlanding experience, using different vehicles and setups. Traveling and experiencing all kinds of problems and difficulties that come hand in hand with Overland adventures, we were able to study their possible solutions, and identify what we consider to be the key points for a good design of any setup. We’ll tell you about the five key points in the design of the Canopy-IO, which we believe make it an ideal solution for your adventure vehicle.

  1. Handmade in Asturias: quality, warranty, after-sales service.

We have not only designed in detail every part of our Canopy, we also make them by hand here in Asturias. This is much more important than it may seem. For starters, we know where and how should every piece be installed, what is its function, and how to service it properly. In case of any kind of problem, we’re available immediately to solve inconveniences, from fixing to replacing or even redesigning any malfunctioning piece. We control the entire process from the beginning to the end, relying on welding, painting, and sewing professionals. Our providers in Asturias are highly experienced and professional, and they will respond to any warranty inquiry as efficiently as us.

  2. Door.

The wideness of the door facilitates the access to the canopy. After many days on the road, we noticed that climbing up using the tailgate was quite uncomfortable, as it was hard to climb and covered the rear bumper completely, which could otherwise be used as a step. That’s why we saw it as necessary to remove the tailgate and integrate the door into the canopy. Additionally, the door opens towards the left, which allows you to access the interior space more safely from the right side of the vehicle.

  3. Steel structure.

The robust structure of the Canopy-IO is made out of galvanized steel, which is possibly the strongest and most stable way to design the base for this kind of configuration. Think about the roll bars, which secure the interior of the vehicle and are made of thick steel. We designed the structure of our canopy with these bars in mind. It’s ideal for bearing heavy 4x4 usage, as well as heavy loads, awnings, etc. And if you’re traveling in remote places and you worry about reliability, keep in mind that steel is easy to repair in case of an accident.

  4. Powder coating on all the components.

A powder coat is very durable and has a more professional finish. It’s used in the automotive industry, as well as for components meant to withstand heavy wear and tear. We chose the colors black and anthracite to accomplish an adventurous but minimalistic look, with a rough but fine grain, easy to clean and repair.

  5. Fabric.

We believe that the fabric is the most tricky and important part of a canopy. It is its most critical point, as there is only one thin layer protecting you from the elements. This is why we chose a high-quality nautical fabric, with a high grammage and the sewing process of the highest level. We paid attention to the smallest of details, such as mosquito nets with Velcro, a transparent PVC window, or the connection to the structure done with aluminum profiles and a sliding guide bar.
