Training Camp 4X4 in Bassella Experiences
The past September 30th and October 1st and 2nd we went to Bassella Experiences in the province of Lleida, invited by our friends from Roda Mont, to attend the annual event they organize, called Training Camp 4x4. In this family event, where almost all the participants know each other and attend every year, training in the world of offroad is combined with the practice of skills both on the Bassella Experiences circuit and on the endless trails that surround the area, as well as sharing stories around the fire with a grilled dinner.
The event began with training by the organization in techniques and use of the winch. The instructors have been practicing off-road around the world for decades, and have experienced many complicated situations, where the winch has undoubtedly been the most useful tool to succeed. Through two parts, the first theoretical and the second practical, they transmitted to the participants the knowledge that will help them to be calm when they’re out there, even if they’re alone on their routes and adventures.
As we said, the Training Camp is held at Bassella Experience, in facilities that have meeting spaces and their own 4x4 circuit, so throughout the event, we had the opportunity to access it and practice our skills when it came to overcoming the different obstacles, from bridge crossings, speed bumps, ledges or ridges of different sizes. All this was supervised by the organizers who helped us choose the best route, always with complete safety, as this circuit has been designed by professionals in the sector.
In the next activity, we had the role of trainers: the travel photography workshop.
After more than 20 years of experience in the audiovisual sector, 10 traveling the world, and dozens of courses and workshops given, I have accumulated thousands of hours of experience in travel photography and video. I prepared a complete presentation with the aim of transmitting not only techniques to capture better images during your trip, but also different concepts and ideas, so that the participants could understand the importance of telling a story through photography.
To finish, Bassella Experience and their training team gave a talk where they explained all the secrets behind a route meter, how to design one, how to follow it, and what its application is in the modern era of GPS.
To round it off, we did a small competition following a route meter around the circuit, where we put into practice the knowledge acquired, trying to complete the route with the minimum distance covered, a real challenge that put our orientation and communication skills to the test.
In short, an unbeatable weekend, learning and sharing with great professionals and now good friends. Next year we will repeat it for sure!
Thanks, Bassella Experiences, thanks, Training Camp 4x4!
